Rep. Kiley Named Chairman of Key Subcommittee

Washington, D.C. (1/31/2023) – This week, Rep. Kiley was appointed as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections. He will also serve as a member of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education. “I am humbled by the opportunity to chair a subcommittee as a freshman member of Congress and look forward to using my assignments to support workers, advance educational excellence, and get our economy back on track.” – Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA-03).

A top priority of Rep. Kiley will be protecting freelancers and independent contractors, who are being targeted by the PRO Act and a proposed Biden Labor Department rule. In the California Assembly, Rep. Kiley led the fight against AB-5, which serves as the model for the Biden Administration’s attack on independent work. For his efforts, Rep. Kiley was named National Legislator of the Year by the Association of Independent Workers.

“It’s an honor to welcome Congressman Kiley as the Chairman of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee for the 118th Congress. His commitment to the rule of law and to protecting the rights of Americans will serve him well in this new role. Additionally, his efforts to protect workers’ rights to choose how, when, and where they work will be a welcome addition to our team. I look forward to working together over the next two years.” – Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC)

Rep. Kiley was also appointed to three subcommittees of the Judiciary Committee: the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government; the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet; and the Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance. “I look forward to working to support our law enforcement, promote entrepreneurship, and usher in a new era of accountability for the federal government.” – Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA-03)
