Rep. Kiley Calls on IRS Commissioner to Clarify Taxability of MCTR

Washington, D.C. (2/2/2023) – Today, Rep. Kiley sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Doug O’Donnell asking him to clarify whether the California Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) is taxable income. Constituents have repeatedly contacted Congressman Kiley’s Office, as the IRS has not issued clear guidance on whether the MCTR constitutes taxable income. A copy of the letter can be found here.
