Congressman Kevin Kiley Secures Federal Funding for Key Transportation and Housing Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) secured an additional $9 million for key projects across California’s Third District, money included in the funding bill that passed the House last week.

This new wave of funding brings the total to $45.1 million for district projects in the last year. The investments will expand affordable housing, improve public safety, and strengthen critical infrastructure.

“These investments reflect our commitment to improving transportation safety and strengthening communities across the Third District,” said Congressman Kiley. “Each of these projects represents a practical, impactful use of taxpayer dollars supporting public safety, reducing congestion, and addressing the housing shortage that impacts so many families and workers.”

Below is a list of projects the money will be used for:

City of South Lake Tahoe – Lake Tahoe Boulevard Apartments

  • Amount: $1,000,000
  • Purpose: To build affordable housing in South Lake Tahoe, increasing housing supply in a community where workers face significant housing challenges.
  • “The City of South Lake Tahoe extends its gratitude to Congressman Kiley for his leadership in securing $1 million in federal Community Project Funding towards the construction of crucially needed workforce housing,” said Mayor Cody Bass. “The funding will go towards housing that is vital to supporting local businesses and growing the local economy while also expanding access to a primary employment center within the region.”

Placer County Water Agency – Culvert Replacements Along I-80

  • Amount: $1,000,000
  • Purpose: To replace high-risk culvert structures along I-80 in Placer County, where the four culverts have a high probability of failure.
  • “Failure of PCWA’s Interstate-80 pipeline crossings would not only be catastrophic for our customers but for water supply and transportation across the region,” said PCWA Director Robert Dugan. “Congressman Kiley recognizes this and was willing to champion support for this critical project. He worked tirelessly for multiple years and across the aisle for the people of his district – PCWA is grateful for his support.”

Town of Loomis – I-80/Horseshoe Bar Road Interchange

  • Amount: $1,000,000
  • Purpose: To modify an existing interchange at I-80/Horseshoe Bar Road to improve safety, reduce congestion, and maintain traffic flow for future demands.
  • “The Horseshoe Bar Road I-80 Interchange project is crucial to our small town of Loomis, serving first and foremost as a foundational project for public safety while also supporting commerce and economic strength,” said Mayor Jan Clark-Crets. “This long-needed improvement is vital to our town’s well-being, and we are grateful to Congress and our local representative, Congressman Kevin Kiley, for their continued collaboration and partnership as we work together to move this integral project forward.

These upgrades will reduce delays from more than 90 seconds to approximately 17 seconds, resulting in safer and more reliable commutes for residents. This investment advances regional mobility and strengthens access to employment centers and Sacramento International Airport for the people of Placer County.”

City of Rocklin – I-80/Rocklin Road Interchange

  • Amount: $3,000,000

This funding represents a major win for Rocklin residents and everyone who travels through our community. Capital SouthEast Connector Joint Powers Authority – White Rock Road Improvement

  • Amount: $2,000,000
