Representative Kiley Responds to Sonoma State University President Lee’s Resignation
WASHINGTON – Representative Kiley (R-CA) released a statement after Sonoma State University President Mike Lee announced plans to retire. President Lee was placed on leave this week for appeasing an unlawful campus encampment by making anti-Semitic policy changes. Rep. Kiley sent a letter to UC President Drake and CSU Chancellor Garcia calling for system-wide action to stop BDS-motivated policies or any concessions to unlawful encampments.

“The removal of Sonoma State’s president is a step in the right direction. But this is not the only California university that has appeased the despicable demands of unlawful encampments. The leadership of the UC and CSU systems must immediately act to reverse these policies and hold campus leaders accountable.”
Background:
Rep. Kiley has introduced House Resolution 1212 condemning universities that make concessions to unlawful encampments. At a Judiciary Committee Subcommittee hearing yesterday, Rep. Kiley called for the removal of Sonoma State’s President and discussed similar appeasement at Harvard and other universities. He also detailed Sonoma State’s anti-Semitic policy changes on the House Floor.
