LOS ANGELES – Today Representative Kevin Kiley (R-CA) joined U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and several other California officials to announce an investigation into CA High-Speed Rail, which could claw back $4.3 billion in federal funds. Earlier this year, Rep. Kiley introduced a bill to make the project ineligible for further federal funding, an important step in bringing it to an end.

“California High-Speed Rail is the worst public infrastructure failure in U.S. history. There is no plausible scenario where the cost to federal or state taxpayers can be justified. It is past time to stop throwing good money after bad, and we must formally end this project,” said Rep. Kiley. “Our share of federal transportation funding should go towards real infrastructure needs, such as improving roads that rank among the worst in the country. The failure of High-Speed Rail represents all that has gone wrong in modern California.”
