Rep. Kiley Statement on Today’s House Passage of DHS Funding Bill

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Kiley (I-CA) issued this statement following today’s House passage of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill:

“The passage of this bill to fund DHS is 75 days overdue. Government shutdowns represent a failure of Congress to fulfill its most basic responsibility, and this DHS shutdown was especially unacceptable at a time of heightened threats to the homeland.

I have voted to fund the Department every chance I’ve had, and I am glad the hardworking men and women at DHS will not have to miss paychecks going forward. Americans are asking us to move on from this era of shutdowns, gridlock, and hyper-partisanship, and to find common ground for the good of the country.”
