Rep. Kiley Statement on School Choice Victory
WASHINGTON – In a House Floor Speech last Thursday, Rep. Kevin Kiley, Chair of the House Subcommittee that covers K-12 Education, called on House Republicans to enact legislation that could expand school choice to millions of families.
Today, the House Ways & Means Committee answered that call by including the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) in its budget reconciliation bill, which Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) is a co-sponsor of. ECCA establishes a tax credit for donations to scholarship-granting organizations that expand access to K–12 education options.
“The failure of our public education system, which was accelerated by the Biden Administration, is an urgent crisis facing this country. We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to turn the tide by catalyzing a school choice revolution across America. We cannot let that opportunity go to waste.”
Kiley and Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) are continuing to advocate for their legislation, the High-Quality Charter School Act, which would provide tax credits to expand existing charter schools with a strong track record of success and could triple the number of students attending charter schools across America.
