ReP. Kevin Kiley Announces 2025 Congressional Art Competition Winners

WASHINGTON – Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) recognized 22 local high school artists who submitted artwork for consideration in this year’s Congressional Art Competition and announced Anhdan Pham, a Sophomore from Granite Bay High School, as this year’s winner! Her piece “Of Shared Roots” will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year. The runners-up included “Sisterly Summer Leisure” by Akhiralin Generoso, a Junior from Vista del Lago High School, and “Tiger’s Gaze” by Farrah Bueghly, a Sophomore from American River Charter School. The finalists were determined by 6 panelists composed of community leaders, art professors, and representatives from local art galleries.

“Congratulations to Anhdan Pham from Granite Bay High School for winning the Congressional Art Competition for CA-03 with her submission of ‘Shared Roots!’ This piece will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year and was selected by an independent panel composed of art professors, representatives from art galleries, and community leaders,” said Rep. Kiley. “Thank you to all the students who submitted artwork for this year’s competition. They showcased the artistic talent of local students, and they made the jobs of the panelists difficult.”

First Place – “Of Shared Roots” by Anhdan Pham, Sophomore, Granite Bay High School
Second Place – “Sisterly Leisure” by Akhiralin Generoso, Junior, Vista del Lago High School
Third Place – “Tiger’s Gaze” by Farrah Bueghly, Sophomore, American River Charter School
Staff Pick – “Mountain Melodies and River Rhythms” by James Burns, Freshman, Loyalton High School

BACKGROUND:

The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide competition in which high school students can submit a piece of art to their congressman. One winner is selected by each of the 435 Members of Congress in the nation, and the winner’s art is displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.
