President Trump Signs Rep. Kiley’s Legislation to Reverse Newsom’s Gas Car Ban Into Law
WASHINGTON – Rep. Kevin Kiley’s (R-CA) Congressional Review Act Resolution reversing California’s upcoming ban on gas-powered vehicles was signed into law by President Trump on Thursday.
The CRA passed the House and Senate last month. It received unanimous support from Republicans and received over 30 votes from House Democrats.
“Today marks a victory for freedom, affordability, and common sense,” Rep. Kiley said. “We have officially reversed an extreme and unworkable mandate from Governor Newsom that would have harmed millions of people in California and across the country. I’m grateful to my colleagues in Congress for passing my Resolution on a bipartisan basis and to President Trump for signing it into law. Californians can now continue to drive the car of their choice, rather than one chosen for them by the government.”
The CRA repeals California’s Advanced Clean Cars II waiver. That federal waiver was what allowed the State to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035.
