Kiley School Choice Amendment Adopted by U.S. House
Washington, D.C. (3/24/2023) – “Today’s Parents Bill of Rights Act is a desperately needed course correction, shifting the paradigm of public education towards one that is student-centered and parent-directed. My addition to this legislation, the school choice amendment, empowers parents by providing a clearer path to find a school that best serves their child. I look forward to continuing to fight for a quality education for every child.” – Congressman Kevin Kiley
Background: In a key victory for parents and students, Rep. Kiley’s school choice amendment was adopted by U.S. House of Representatives as part of the Parents Bill of Rights (H.R.5) legislation. The Kiley school choice amendment ensures parents are fully informed of every enrollment option available to their child, from inter-district and intra-district public school transfers to charter schools. The bill is now headed to the U.S. Senate for consideration. You can read a copy of the Kiley school choice amendment here and H.R.5 here. Rep.
